Appointing a Trusted Contact Person (TCP) is one way to add an extra layer of protection to your account. If a situation arises where we have concerns about financial decisions or where we believe that there is financial exploitation, we can reach out to your appointed TCP to discuss your account.
Please be aware that the person you designate as your TCP, is not granted power of attorney (POA). A power of attorney can make financial decisions on your behalf. A Trusted Contact Person can only discuss your account with us and cannot transact on your account. A TCP may be a close friend, family member or caregiver that can be trusted to ensure that your interests come first.
How to add a Trusted Contact Person
To add a TCP you must complete & sign the Trusted Contact Person Designation form, then return a copy to us by emailing to directinvesting@qtrade.ca or by regular mail to our Vancouver office. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot fulfill TCP requests by phone.
